  • Supplies

    • Large Mason jar with lid
    • Cheesecloth or coffee filter
    • Digital scale
    • 57 grams of coarsely ground coffee per serving
    • 400 grams of cold water per serving

  • Step 1

    MEASURE AND GRIND

    Weigh 57 grams of coffee.

If using pre-ground coffee, use coarse ground beans.

If grinding whole beans, grind to the texture of very fine gravel. The grind should be distinct, not powdery, with a dry, slightly gritty texture when you run it between your fingers.

  • Step 2

    COMBINE

Place the jar, with ground coffee added, on the scale. Tare scale. Add 400 grams of cold water.

    • TIP: Use filtered water to allow your coffee’s true flavor to shine through.

Stir the coffee and water mixture thoroughly.

Seal the jar with its lid to prevent any outside flavors from mixing in.

  • Step 3

    STEEP AND STRAIN

Place the jar in the refrigerator and let it steep for 12 to 24 hours. The longer it steeps, the richer and more robust the flavor will be. More than 24 hours of steeping may result in bitter coffee.

After steeping, strain the cold brew concentrate by pouring it through a cheesecloth or coffee filter into a measuring cup.

  • Step 4

    ENJOY

Serve in a tall glass over ice.

After pouring, store any additional coffee in a separate, refrigerated container (without grinds) for up to three days.
