Caramel Affogato

Try this sweet Italian-inspired dessert coffee made with Lancaster County Coffee Roasters' Caramel Cream brew. It's a simple, elegant, and perfect for summer evenings or post-dinner treats.

Ingredients:

  • 1 scoop vanilla gelato (or your favorite ice cream—caramel swirl or French vanilla also work great!)

  • ¼ cup strong-brewed Lancaster County Coffee Roasters Caramel Cream coffee

  • Optional toppings: caramel drizzle, whipped cream, or a sprinkle of sea salt

Instructions:

  1. Chill the Dish:
Place your serving bowl, glass, or cup in the freezer for at least 15 minutes. A cold vessel helps the hot coffee glide over the gelato without instantly melting it, creating that perfect affogato experience.

  2. Brew the Coffee:
Brew Lancaster County Coffee’s Caramel Cream coffee using a strong brew method. Use a French press, espresso machine, or simply double the amount of grounds in your drip machine to intensify the flavor.

  3. Scoop the Gelato:
Remove your chilled dish from the freezer and add one generous scoop of vanilla gelato or ice cream to the center.

  4. Pour & Serve:
Immediately pour ¼ cup of the hot Caramel Cream coffee over the gelato. Watch as the creamy ice cream begins to melt into the rich caramel coffee for a smooth, sweet, and lightly bitter dessert drink.

  5. Optional Finishing Touches:
Add a swirl of caramel sauce, a dollop of whipped cream, or even a pinch of sea salt for a gourmet twist.
